Reflections on Unemployment
Well, now that I'm back among the land of the gainfully employed, I've got the capacity to reflect upon my four months off. There are a few key things I've learned.
- There is no limit to how little you can accomplish! Every second that goes by is another chance to get nothing done.
- I am an inherently undisciplined person, and without the fear of failure at work, I'd quite frequently sleep till the early afternoon, and then work on my own projects until six AM. Eventually this would catch up with me, and I'd wind up skipping an entire day of sleep to try and reset back to something somewhat normal.
- Video games are the greatest tool to make ten hours of your life disappear in the blink of an eye.
- Showers are a lot more optional than I used to think. Brushing the teeth, however, is not. I'm still collecting my thoughts, but those are a few key things I've figured out. Learn from my experiences or suffer my fate!
