Woohoo! Game Test Run!

tabletop tactical game that lets you build whatever you want and fight where ever you want.Well, I finally got around to doing a dry-run of one of my game systems. This one is a dopey little tabletop tactical game that lets you build anything you want and have any sort of battle you want.
I've always liked the battle simulation type games, those with some crunchy rules where you get into a little war or whatever. Battletech was my main time waster back in highschool (when it was still FASA owned) along that vein. I tried to get into Warhammer 40K later on, but never could get off my ass and paint all those damn miniatures, so I sold off my Tau army a number of years later.
Warhammer had a hell of a lot of style, but always struck me as being a tad inflexible. Battletech was great, especially in trying to build bigger and better mechs to beat the shit out of your friends. Fun stuff. :guns:
Of course, this type of game is awfully dated. Pretty much everyone plays PC or console versions of the same games now. Ultimately I might try and build this into an online web-based game, but that's a hell of a ways off.
For now I'm just rattling the rules around and seeing what falls out or what breaks.
The good thing is my two buddies who were testing it seemed to get into it, so it's definitely got some potential, unlike some of my earlier game attempts. I had a card game that, in my mind, seemed like it was awesome. In practice it turned out to be bloody ponderous to play.
I don't know, but there seems to be at least a bit of a niche for this kind of game. Maybe not to quit my day job, of course, but there are people who are into this stuff. Right now I'm making some revisions based on the results of the test game, and then we'll test this sucker out again.
